Tyson, I was really drawn away from the Republican offering and voted a democratic ticket in the primary election.
Judgment
I have been concerned about McCain’s judgment for some time. As the Republican nominee, his selection of a person who is clear, consistent, and articulates belief by life choices caused this registered democrat to change horses. Yes, Sarah hit a home run, but she took her swings long before she had a clue that her decisions would go under the scrutiny of an entire world. What was it JC Watts is quoted as saying? …”character is doing the right thing when no one is looking…”
Even now, Palin has not been invited into the “good old boy” club and faces acid attacks, but she continues to “Do Right” because it is the right thing to do, even if no one is looking. Life habit. Integrity. Character.
I love that finally, we heard it isn’t about being a democrat or a republican….it IS about being an AMERICAN! This is huge. This is what my ears have longed to hear! Now, McCain and his team need to walk the walk.
Split ticket-I will vote American not red nor blue…
I received a political poll call today. I was asked about presidential candidates, senate race and who I would vote for regarding Tad’s seat. Back to JC Watt’s quote I go…. it is my belief that in our darkest hour as a family under real and extreme attack, we asked for help from Inholf; Taylor; Jones… we did not ask for political favors, just honest review. Jim abstained (or maybe he just voted “present”). Tad started the race really well, as did Stratton Taylor. Not for us as favored people but acting on their oath of office and with commitment to the law, honesty and integrity. It is my opinion that Stratton Taylor stayed the course even in the face of a good old boy network, he persistently did what was right. Our peril was not a democrat/republican issue, but very real and very much an American issue. For the public officials who took interest, doing what was right incurred political risk and promised very little political reward regardless of outcome. It is also my opinion that Tad began to do what was right and then he choked. When asked the tough questions by OU lawyers in a legal interview about “God Bless” and about his recollection of specific statements made to him by school officials, his memory paled. I lost my respect for Tad because it is my belief that he could have chosen to hit a home run for justice… right out of the park….just like Palin has done time and again.
I will choose not to support Tad, not because of a party affiliation but because I believe that he had the opportunity to do the right thing and chose a safe road leaving innocent people to endure the pain of his silence. Note that I am not representing any factual findings, just my impression of how my first hand observation of how the “system” functioned and how that I believe our elected representatives worked (or did not work) for us.
God bless, pamela
